This category challenges participants to present the best light roasted beans. Their beans will be assessed by expert judges in a blind tasting.
This category challenges participants to present the best medium and dark roasted beans. Their beans will be assessed by expert judges in a blind tasting.
The award will go to the most inventive hot or cold concept beverage featuring Gahwa as the main ingredient. Expert judges will then assess the beverages based on their ingenuity, flavour, and presentation.
Visitors will get to see the judging in action. In this room, the sensory judges conduct the cupping sessions for both Sane’ Al Gahwa Championship and the Gahwa Roaster Award. The judges will be , assessing the quality of each contestant's Gahwa through a rigorous evaluation of the coffee’s roast colour, taste balance (aromatics, acidity, bitterness, and flavor), defects, faults, and taints.
Visitors can watch the competitions live at different stages; from Gahwa roasting on open fires using traditional utensils to competitors unleashing their creativity to brew the best Gahwa using only the ingredients provided in a mystery box.
The Gahwa Championships will conclude with an award ceremony at Al Hosn Festival to recognize the new winners of the competitions.
